PerkinElmer announces the “Ettre Award”, a new award to honor a young scientist in the field of gas chromatography (GC). The award is named after Leslie S. Ettre, a distinguished professor in the field of chromatography who was a key scientist at Perkin Elmer Corp. for 32 years before retiring in 1990.

The award is eligible to all gas chromatographers ages 35 or younger who present papers at the International Symposia on Capillary Chromatography. The inaugural award will be presented at the closing ceremony of the 32 nd Symposium on May 30 th in the town of Riva del Garda , Italy .

Entrants will be judged by a committee of peers, with the award going to the young chromatographer presenting the most original and interesting research in capillary gas chromatography, with a focus on environmental and food safety.

PerkinElmer's history in chromatography dates back more than 50 years, when the Company introduced the first commercially-successful gas chromatograph on the market. Professor Ettre is a well-respected leader in this field with significant contributions to GC techniques and was a key player in the development of GC technology for PerkinElmer. He has published more than 400 articles and papers and written and edited more than 40 books and still participates on a number of editorial boards.
